I just wanted to send a thank you all for being so amazing at what you do and for really taking the time to care for Ella's needs. Every process of this, including the front office and even billing, has been the best!
We have struggled with finding her care for 3.5 years. It has been a battle at every turn. I have had to fight for every care that we have gotten Ella. And even though she's seen 8 different therapists at 3 different facilities, no one has been able to help her as much as you all have in the month since we started. Since we've arrived at your facility, we finally feel like we are getting answers to her behaviors and helping those behaviors in ways we have not been able to do in the past.
Your insight into the different ways she thinks has gotten us to rethink everything we've been doing for her. We are pulling her out of her preschool and looking into alternative ideas that will give her time to process her therapies and not cause her further anxiety. We owe this amazing gift to you all!
Thank you! Thank you! and THANK YOU!
In this time of year when we stop and think about all that we have to be grateful for, you guys are at the top of my list! I am so thankful that Aidan has the best team of therapists around to work with. It shows in everything thing that you guys do. The activities that you all plan are never flat and boring. The time that you take for planning, the way you understand each child’s personality, strengths and challenges is amazing, and I never feel like just another client.
As parents, we give therapists a lot of trust. We really do rely on you guys and the impact that you have had on Aidan has been nothing less that inspiring to me. You make me a better mom. Everyone that Amy has brought into the ACS “circle of trust” :) is outstanding!
My son has been receiving speech, OT and social skills at ACS for almost 2 years! Amy and her team uses a combination of behavioral, social skills training, tradition speech and occupational therapies in an insightful and holistic approach that has worked wonders for my son. Everyone at ACS works as a team with each other and the parent. Additionally, they are always willing to tackle any area of need (i.e.…reading, math, handwriting, vision, etc…). I do not believe that I could get this level of complete services anywhere else in town. Not to mention the icing on the cake…they are very helpful with insurance. Amy and her team ROCK and I will always be thankful that my son is able to attend ACS!!
I can't tell you enough how thankful I am for you all!! Amy, Stacey, and Liz you are working wonders with my little man! Amy, your creative food school has expanded the foods that my guy will eat so much, in such a short time.
I'm truly amazed! So ladies, thank you, thank you, thank you!!
We want to say thank you to all the staff at Austinís Communication Station for caring about all of the children and making the world a better place for them. You guys are awesome!

Amy has established a wonderful rapport with my son, who is, by all accounts, a tough nut to crack. His speech delays are fairly severe, so working with him is not something just any SLP can do. Amyís background (and board certification) in Applied Behavioral Analysis, combined with her experience in and dedication to speech pathology, have been essential to my sonís progress. Her evaluations are more comprehensive and thorough than any I have seen thus far. She writes a realistic plan for every child and discusses the methods to achieve those goals and the very objective ways of measuring them with the parent and all the while being sensitive and attentive to parental input. After each session, she gives me a detailed oral report on what they have worked on, without looking at the clock. Amy is also extremely diligent about keeping up to date in professional development in her field.
I am a hard-to-please parent, but I love Austinís Communication Station and Amy in it!
We have been so blessed to find a behaviorally-trained speech and language pathologist here in Austin! Our son, Breckin, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of 19 months, was only using 1-2 word phrases when we arrived 6 months ago, and he is now combining adjectives, nouns, prepositions, and actions into his own sentences! Amy Bartelt has worked wonders! She also has an ample amount of oral-motor knowledge and is able to use it to help improve articulation.
Upon arrival here to Austin, most people couldn't understand Breckin. A few days ago at Wal-Mart he actually asked a stranger, "What's your name?" and to our absolute delight, the person was able to understand him well enough to answer. He used to sound like he was talking with a mouth full of water. Through several mouth-strengthening devices and articulation practice, we have noticed he has gained more confidence to use longer phrases. He has also gained one year worth of language in the last six months, now receptively understanding things at the level of a 3 year and 3 month old - only 3 months behind his age of 3 1/2!
The standard has been set for passionate, dedicated, hard workers in this field! I can feel how excited she is to work with him every time she is here.
Thank you, Amy!

We consider ourselves so blessed to have access to the quality care our sons have received from Melissa. Our oldest son has Asperger's Syndrome, and has really struggled with conversational and social skills. He has been working with Melissa for over a year now and his growth in these areas has been dramatic! Before coming here, he would quote lines from books and movies instead of answering questions. Now he initiates and participates in novel conversations with others. He is overcoming fears and beginning to form genuine friendships with peers at school.
Melissa has taken a specific interest in learning more how about to help kids like Sam. She is constantly attending new conferences and training sessions to be better at her craft. And it pays off! We are so pleased with the results. When Austin's Communication Station opened, we made the decision to follow Melissa here. The longer drive and traffic are definitely worth it. I can't imagine trusting my boys to anyone else!
My 7-year-old severely autistic, non-verbal son, Jimmy, has been a client at Austin’s Communication Station since January of 2009. I can’t say enough good things about them!
We initially sought out private speech therapy services for Jimmy because back in April of 2008, our health insurance company had purchased a DynaVox voice output device for him. We received the device just a few short weeks before we moved from Olympia, Washington, where we had been living, to our current location here in Round Rock, Texas. So we never really had a chance to learn how to use the device.
Austin’s Communication Station’s Amy and Melissa subcontracted services with the Austin area DynaVox representative for assistance during Jimmy’s sessions. Together, we all learned how to best utilize the DynaVox device for Jimmy’s needs. Jimmy now is able to use the device for making basic requests at both home and school. This is a huge step for a non-verbal child who spends a lot of time frustrated when he cannot make his needs known.
In addition to working with Jimmy and his DynaVox, Melissa and Amy have been working with Jimmy on things like turn taking, following a schedule, learning to wait, using a token board, using appropriate greetings, and behavior management. Clearly this is far more than “just” speech therapy! Throughout it all, both Melissa and Amy have been extremely patient and professional with Jimmy’s often difficult and aggressive behavior.
I would highly recommend Austin’s Communication Station to anyone seeking speech therapy services for their child.

Let me start out by saying Melissa and Amy are the best therapists around. When we finally got back in touch with Melissa after a brief hiatus, we found her working at Austin’s Communication Station. Their work brings out the best of my child, he has developed by leaps and bounds. Both Melissa and Amy are so patient and loving towards their clients. My son gets very excited to be at his appointment, so that in itself says a lot about them.
Both therapists are knowledgeable and very helpful, and both make sure the parent(s) is very involved with work that is sent home. I have found my son is articulating better and is more confident in himself since attending ACS.
I highly recommend them to all.
