Missy joined Austinís Communication Station in August 2015. She received her Masterís degree in Speech Language Pathology from Southern Connecticut State University in Connecticut in 2008.
Missy is a certified Speech Language Pathologist and she has her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. She maintains a Texas and Connecticut state license.
Missy has worked with both the pediatric and adult populations. Upon graduation in 2008, she worked for a skilled nursing home and rehabilitation facility. There she conducted in-patient and out-patient therapy services where she treated patients in the areas of speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing. Although Missy enjoyed working with the geriatric population, her true passion is working with the pediatrics population. In 2009, she began working for the Madison Public School System in Connecticut where she remained for 7 years. During her time in the public school, she worked with incoming Birth-Three children, preschool, elementary and high school students in the areas of autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, multi-handicap, cerebral palsy, nonverbal learning disorder, intellectually disabled, apraxia, articulation and phonological disorders, cleft palate, swallowing and feeding, and receptive and expressive language disorders. She has also worked in the homecare and private speech therapy setting for over 4 years.
Missy grew up in Connecticut and moved to Austin in 2015. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants and spending time with her dog, Riley, on the greenbelt and at other various parks.
